Capital Power’s Halkirk 2 Wind (H2) project is under construction and expected to be operational in late 2024. The project is located on privately owned land about 5 kilometres (km) north of our existing play roulette games|Free facility in the County of Paintearth, Alberta.

H2 will utilize Vestas Free roulette casino games V150-4-5™ wind turbine technology. The V150 platform is the largest wind turbine Capital Power has installed to date. It has a 105 m hub height; 150 m rotor diameter and 74 m blade length.

It’s quite the journey from manufacturing to operation! The wind turbine components (blades, five tower sections, hub and nacelle) were manufactured in India, Vietnam and China, shipped to the Port of Houston, TX and Port of Vancouver, WA then transported to Oyen, AB and lastly trucked via oversize load approximately 210 km directly to the turbine site where they’re assembled in place.

Quick Facts

Consultation and Engagement

We value and consider local community interests and priorities. We engage government, employees, local communities, investors, shareholders, and Indigenous communities. Our goal for every project, every facility and every initiative, internal and external, is to build, operate, and align with the interests and priorities of those closest to, and most impacted by, our operations.

Traffic Management and Site-Specific Emergency Response Plans

Our Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors, Borea Construction (“Borea”) and Rising Edge Group (“Rising Edge”) have each developed Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and Site-Specific Emergency Response Plans (SSERP) for their portions of the project.

Safety is a top priority, and we recognize construction will bring a lot of activity to the community. We’ll work to be the least impactful as possible. We’re seeking feedback on the Traffic Management and Emergency Response Plans developed for the project construction.

Rising Edge is responsible for completing the design, construction and commissioning of the project’s Goldeye 620S Substation in addition to the design of the collector line system. Borea is responsible for the construction Best online live roulette of access roads, turbine foundations, turbine assembly and collector cable installation.

We welcome input and feedback on the respective TMPs and SSERPs from residents, occupants and landowners who reside, work or own land in the project area.

Community Investment

The community and economic benefits for the project would be similar to those for Halkirk Wind, including a new and steady stream of municipal tax revenue, and annual lease revenues to landowners.

Development of the project will generate many jobs for the construction portion and will create permanent employment opportunities for approximately 8-10 people, including one full-time facility site manager, and service and maintenance personnel.

Capital Power is committed to being a good neighbour. Some examples of our activities and support for local community groups include:

  • Halkirk Elks Bullarama
  • Halkirk & District Volunteer Fire Department
  • Castor and District Ag Society Rodeo
  • Castor Fire and Rescue Comedy Night
  • Halkirk Hall Association
  • Castor Minor Sports
